Hypnotherapy is a form of deep relaxation (otherwise known as a trance state). Hypnotherapy uses guided visualisation and is a supportive therapy that helps address anxieties and worries about certain aspects of our lives. Our minds are unbelievably powerful but we tend to access only a very small amount of our minds. Sometimes we find that beliefs and emotions in our unconscious minds can actually stand in the way of what we want to achieve. Hypnotherapy can help you adopt helpful new beliefs with positive suggestions and let go of some thoughts and emotions which are holding you back.
My fully accredited, intensive clinical hypnotherapy training was undertaken with Dr Claire Jack founder of the Academy of the Inner Academy. I am able to provide support for all areas of clinical hypnotherapy. My specialities in hypnotherapy include fertility, menopause and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
I am a qualified Fertile Body Method Practitioner a course focused on the mind-body approaches to fertility, developed by clinical hypnotherapist and fertility specialist Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer and have completed the The Fertile Mind course by fertility2birth. I have also undertaken advanced CPD courses in HypnoMenopause™ and HypnoIBS™.
As a qualified Fertile Body Method practitioner I tailor hypnotherapy sessions for your fertility journey, whether it is IVF, ICI or the worry of pregnancy after miscarriages. Hypnotherapy can support you in reducing stress and anxiety.
As a qualified HypnoMenopause™ hypnotherapist I can deliver hypnosis sessions for menopause. *In one research Hypnotherapy has been shown to reduce hot flushes by as much as 74% . This therapy provides an alternative for women during menopause.
As a qualified HypnoIBS™ hypnotherapist I can deliver hypnosis sessions for Irritable Bowel Syndrome . The National Institute for Clinical and Care Excellence (NICE) lists hypnotherapy as one of the treatments to help with IBS.
Hypnotherapy can help to reduce levels of anxiety. It can help you enter a deep sense of relaxation and identify triggers and address beliefs and develop new positive responses.
What to expect from my sessions?
Firstly, you'll have the opportunity to tell me what you'd like to achieve from our sessions together. I then use that information to create those changes. A session might involve positive suggestions to your powerful unconscious minds and using powerful techniques such as visualisation and CBT. We'll always work at a pace which is right for you.
Is it a bit like mind control?
No, I don't control your mind and it's nothing like stage hypnosis. You are in control at every stage and will only say and do what feels comfortable.
What if I can't be hypnotised?
The vast majority of people can reach a state of hypnosis which is just right for them. People can achieve very transformative therapeutic change even with a light stage of hypnosis. If you've ever got lost in a good book or movie, or whilst you're meditating or doing something creative, you've experienced a state similar to hypnosis.
Is it guaranteed to help me?
In much the same way as any other therapeutic intervention, hypnotherapy doesn't come with a guarantee. However, it is a highly effective method which is used by psychiatrists and psychologists as well as hypnotherapists and other therapists. The most important thing is that you want to create positive change in your life. If you do, hypnotherapy can be a significant part of your journey.
What is a session like?
Initially we will have a conversation about what it is you want to achieve. At that point, if you're happy about working with me as a hypnotherapist and if I feel like I'm the right therapist for you, we will have a hypnotherapy zoom session. After catching up and going into a bit more depth about the issue you've come about, I will use my voice to help you achieve your own state of hypnosis. Based on what you've told me, I'll use a variety of techniques to help you overcome any unhelpful thoughts and adopt a new, positive perspective along with tools to help you create change.
How many seasons do I need?
This very much depends on what issue you have come about. During your initial consultation I'll give you a clear idea of how many sessions you can expect.
